Steven Mnuchin, the US Treasury secretary, made the following statement:
- The details of the tax reform plan will be announced in the week of 25 September.
- Support eliminating estate tax.
- There will be no overall reduction of taxes for the rich.
- There is no divergence in ideas between the White House and the Senate over the tax plan.
- Although we respect the independence of the Fed, we are concerned about economic growth.
- We are doing everything we can, whether through tax reform or through regulation or through trade to create economic growth.
- We are less worried now about inflation.
