Abe: BoJ needs to be careful when buying foreign bonds

Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan, made the following statements:

  • foreign bonds buying could be mistaken for intervention.
  • We will leave monetary policy to Bank of Japan.

Haruhiko Kuroda, governor of the Bank of Japan, also made the following statement:

  • There is no need to buy foreign bonds.
  • We are not in a situation where we would need to buy US Treasuries.
