Australia's trade balance posted an eleventh-consecutive trade surplus in April, but an economist said exports may not provide much support for GDP growth in the second quarter.

The trade surplus posted a A$977 million ($747.6 million) following a revision of the previous month's reading to A$1.7 billion.

According to an economist, he sees net exports moving towards a neutral contribution to GDP growth in the second quarter after adding only 0.3% in the first quarter. Exports in April fell by 2% on a monthly basis with exports of iron and coal fell while Imports were unchanged from March
