The Japanese government will nominate candidates for the central bank’s governor and deputy to the Japanese parliament on Friday, according to some informed sources. The candidates need the approval of both houses of parliament which the ruling coalition enjoys a comfortable majority.

The government is likely to submit a list of candidates for several senior positions, including positions at the Bank of Japan, tomorrow at 2:00 am GMT. Government leaders reaffirmed their confidence in the current Governor of the Bank of Japan, Haruhiko Kuroda, boosting expectations that he will be reappointed for a second term.

Kuroda's current five-year term ends on April 8 and his deputies on March 19, and Kuroda's reappointment will keep the ultra-loose monetary policy for some time.
