Commerzbank expects Eurozone inflation to rise in summer

Analysts in Commerzbank predict that euro zone inflation will rise by 2% during the summer, but this rise will be primarily due to higher energy costs and not higher prices for goods and services that the European Central Bank would like to see.

That rise will play a role in the ECB announcement of the end of the quantitative easing program. Commerzbank expects inflation to rise to 1.5% in March due to Easter holidays and unusually cold weather.

Although rising inflation may come from rising energy prices, it may not provide adequate comfort for the European Central Bank to move and raise rates in 2019.
