Davis sees the EU harming Britain's interests

David Davis, the Brexit minister, complained in a letter to the prime minister that the EU was hurting British interests by threatening companies if the UK left the EU without a deal.

The letter showed Davis' quest for legal advice on whether the EU violates Britain's rights as a member of the EU by advising companies of the risk of trade in the event of no deal.

The EU and UK agreed last month to move to the second phase of the negotiations for talks on the future trade relationship. The British government announced its readiness for any possible outcome.
