The ambassadors of 27 EU member states are trying to finalize the outline of future relations between the EU and UK ahead of a summit scheduled for Sunday.

UK is due to leave the EU on March 29, 2019, but the two sides must approve the disengagement agreement and outline the attached for their future relations. EU leaders hope to reach agreement at Sunday's summit.

UK Prime Minister Teresa May did not succeed in bridging all gaps with EU in talks in Brussels on Wednesday and said she would return on Saturday in hopes that this latest intervention would bring the deal to life.

British disputed territory of Gibraltar became the sticking point as Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez clung to his position ahead of local elections in Andalusia.

On the other hand, diplomats told their counterparts from the European Union in Brussels that Chancellor Angela Merkel will not come to Brussels on Sunday for any further negotiations, which means that the text of the agreement must be ready.
