Kashkari: Raising US interest at a rapid pace may cause the economy recession

US Federal Reserve member Nail Kashkari indicated that there is uncertainty about the neutral interest rate. His most prominent statements were as follows:

  • We monitor the economic data closely.
  • There is still some stagnation in the US economy.
  • I still believe that a quick rate hike could cause the economy to slide into recession.
  • The housing and auto sector is taking my attention. We know that raising interest rates will have an impact on them.
  • The agricultural sector is under pressure from lower prices and tariffs.
  • Economic growth of 3% healthy.
  • We collectively benefit from the independence of the FED
  • Powell is turning his attention to the data at the moment.
  • I see no evidence that the US will grow more than 2% in the long term
