Italy's Deputy Prime Minister Luigi Di Maio said today that respect for the EU's fiscal rules is not a priority for the new Italian government, although it will try to adhere to them if it does not hinder the reform agenda. Their priorities are citizens and their needs.
Di Maio also said the government would try to implement planned reforms, including tax cuts and increased spending on pensions and social welfare without breaking rules designed to keep the deficit in the EU less than 3 percent of GDP.
