Finance ministers from France and Germany announced they had made progress during their meeting in Paris on Saturday, but the roadmap for reforms in the euro zone has yet to be agreed. French President Emmanuel Macaron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel agreed to propose a joint reform at the EU summit at the end of this month, but there are still differences on some issues.

The finance ministers met to narrow differences between the two sides. The two biggest economies in the eurozone are different on how to balance Macron's call for more solidarity in Europe with Merkel insisting that taxpayers in wealthier countries should not tolerate government failures in poorer countries.

Officials in both countries have made significant progress and to continue talks this week.
