India delays retaliatory tariffs on U.S. goods

India delayed the implementation of high tariffs on some goods imported from the United States until Nov. 2, according to the government order, which was delayed for the second time against U.S. tariffs on imports of steel and aluminum.

Trade disputes between India and the United States have grown since President Trump came to power, and India's decision to delay has come as the two countries negotiate to avoid trade frictions.

After the United States refused to exempt India from the steel and aluminum tariffs, India decided in June to raise the import tax on some U.S. products starting from August 4, and was postponed. Subsequently, the Indian government postponed the tax until September 18, but as negotiations continued, they delayed it one more time.
