Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the European Commission, made the remarks in his visit to Greece as follows:

  • Greece can exit its third bailout program without requiring a credit line.
  • Greece's achievements of broad reforms in return for bailout funds were excellent.
  • We want to make every effort to ensure that Greece exits from the bailout plan, and there will be no precautionary credit line.
  • I have never been impressed by austerity programs.

Greece has received about 260 billion euros of bailout funds since 2010, and the latest bailout plan has reached about 86 billion euros, which runs until August, Greece does not want credit line. The removal of official control of the eurozone is a political achievement for the government of Alexis Tsipras, the Greek prime minister.

Tsipras said Greece did not intend to back down on reforms as it was on course to meet its fiscal targets for 2018/2020, adding that Greece and lenders are close to agreeing on a framework to reduce the country's huge debt.
