Kuroda: Central banks are very cautious of issuing digital currencies

Haruhiko Kuroda, governor of the Bank of Japan, made the following statement:

  • Japan's real interest rates in the negative territory.
  • The natural rate of interest is likely to remain around zero.
  • Negative interest rates have a sufficient stimulus effect on the economy.
  • Central banks are very cautious of the issuance of digital currencies.
  • There are problems facing central banks that issue digital currency and have been discussed at G-20 and BIS meetings.
