Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conti and Finance Minister Giovanni Treya have agreed to discuss a plan to reduce the budget deficit target and emphasize a reduction of the deficit target to 2 percent. The proposal involves the alleged delay in welfare and pension reforms planned for several months, increasing the likelihood of a sooner rather than later compromise. The Italian Finance Minister pointed out that the European Union will calm down with the deficit not exceeding 2%.
