The G7 summit which held in Canada has ended, and dominated the atmosphere over the weekend, especially as it was not agreed on solving the tensions of trade exchange. The G7 nations agreed on several points in the final statement, including preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and calling on Russia to abandon Syria.
US President Donald Trump withdrew his support for the final joint statement hours after the meetings ended because of statements made by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who threatened to impose retaliatory tariffs on US goods, and that US imposing tariffs due to national security was humiliating. Trudeau's response to Trump withdrawing support for the joint statement was that he did not say anything new that the US president did not know.
Trump expressed his support for the idea of a return of Russia to the Group of Seven, and that the G8 is a more effective version of the G7 and he said that some members supporting the idea.
