Trump wants the FED cut interest rates

US President Donald Trump has said the Fed should cut its key interest rate, which is holding back the growth of the world's largest economy.

"I would like to see the Federal Reserve adopt a lower rate of interest, I think the interest rate is very high, we have a problem with the Federal Reserve that is larger than any other party," Trump told reporters on Tuesday.

The FED raised its interest rate three times this year and plans to pursue a "gradual lifting" of these rates until 2019. Most analysts expect the Federal Reserve to raise its key interest rate in December at the last meeting of the Monetary Committee this year.

President Trump is not the only one who believes that continuing this policy to raise interest rates could hurt growth, which has begun to show signs of weakness although it remains among the best among industrialized economies.

Federal Reserve Chairman Powell said he had not yet taken a decision to curb growth to avoid overheating and inflation out of control.

"We are not trying to control what cannot be controlled, we are trying to control what can be controlled," Powell said last week.
