UK house prices rose in the last three months to August at their fastest annual rate since November last year, according to figures from the leading mortgage lender Halifax on Friday, backed by a gradual recovery in wages and limited supply.
The house price index for the period rose by 3.7% on yearly basis compared to the previous reading by 3.3%, while expectations were 3.9%. On the other hand, house prices rose by 0.1% on monthly basis in August, exceeding expectations of 0.3% but after a strong 1.2% increase in July.
